2) print some images larger than wallet size to see what you would consider to be acceptable quality. Most likely, you'll have images with low detail and/or blockiness as you go up in print size. However, it may be possible that you will find 4 x 6 images to be barely acceptable.

3) find a real photographer (sorry dad) and re-create a few critical photos. Sadly, some photos you won't be able to recreate.

4) A pro lab may be able to interpolate the images somewhat to get slightly better results for a bigger print. But they can't create data from nothing if it was never recorded.

5) Make sure what you are providing Walgreens are the original image files and not thumbnails. I had this happen, where I provided a client both full-size images and thumbnails for viewing via a CD. The client had prints made at Costco…from the thumbnails. Needless to say, the images weren't that good from thumbnails. Once I pointed her to the full-size images, she was a lot happier.

For other readers: never trust important or once in a lifetime precious moments to a non-professional or an unskilled relative with a camera. Always make sure that the photographer you pick has satisfied customers, as well as a personally-shot portfolio (I know of one wedding "photographer" whose online portfolio consists of stock wedding images taken by others).
