    Hi Gordon,

    Hi Gordon,
I’m deciding between D80 and D90, I want this camera to last me maybe 4-5 years. I do not care much for Live View or Movie Recording that the D90 has, but am wondering if it is worthwhile regardless.
    Thanks!

    Yes it will. It’s only the D40, D40x and D60 which won’t AF with non AF-S lenses…

    Framing using the …
Framing using the screen on a DSLR is called Live View, and on Nikon bodies, it’s only available on the D300, D700, D90 and D3(x). I expect pretty much every new DSLR to offer it, but sadly you can’t retro-fit it on older models…

i’ve bought this baby in august 2008 and can’t complain. but one question - can i use also the older nikon lenses ? even those without autofocus but manual only ? i know nikon has created several lines of lenses marked by different letter in the past. which of the would fit to d80 ? do you have any suggestions which of them would be good ?

    The 55-200mm is a …
The 55-200mm is a nice lens, but it’s too powerful for a general-purpose model. It’s designed to complement an 18-55mm lens. So yes, I’d go for the D80 kit. Check out the lens buyers guide at cameralabs . com and feel free to ask any questions in the Nikon section of the cameralabs forum…

    so according to …
so according to tfred2067 the price dropped so much. maybe i’ll get it, and since i’m only buying the body it would be a whole lot cheaper. but the VR system seems to make alot of difference from what i heard

so would it be too expensive if i buy a nikon D80 body and a Nikon DX VR zoom 55-200mm? or would it be wiser to buy the Nikon D80 kit?

Hi Gordon, great review, im buying a new DSLR soon and thinking of getting D80 beacuse im taking photography more seriously and want to do it in collage. But i don’t know if i don’t need to D80 yet and i would be better off with D60. Or do you think that the D80 would be better for collage and allround photography?
