NEW YORK (YouTube.com/AdAge) — Do you sometimes think the hype about digital media has gotten totally out of control? So does NBC Night News anchor Brian Williams. Speaking at the recent Ad Council Public Service Awards ceremony, he lampooned the digital geek-speak that so often ignores the realities of traditional media.

    “Live streaming …
    “Live streaming audio” is the FM for the new millennium… lot’s of tunes without commercials. Yet. But, the user gets to program it, not some adolescent following a program director’s instructions. All well and good to poke fun at technology, but Brian Williams is ignoring some facts, as usual.

    iPod with streaming …
    iPod with streaming audio, works everywhere in the world where you have internet.

    Radio works few tens-hundredths of kms from the radio tower.

    Not so funny after all.
