    In some areas, but …
In some areas, but not everywhere. Satellite TV tends to start higher than that, and that’s the only alternative for many people living in rural areas. Or if you live in a market like I do that has only one cable company, you’re likely to get ripped off.

    I agree. Just …
I agree. Just because something’s old doesn’t mean it’s no good. If it ain’t broke, then don’t fix it.
But I do give credit to the ATSC for getting their act together as far as reception and station signal strength; on June 12 I was able to pick up more stations (though still not all of ‘em). And think about all the portable and antique TV’s that can no longer pick up a signal. You can’t exactly hook up a DTV tuner (converter box) to a portable television…

    No, it’s because …
No, it’s because other service providers want to use the same spectrum for other purposes. The whole band was sold, it has nothing to do with police and emergency radios. those operate in a spectrum way out of range of SD TV

    The change to …
The change to digital is to free up analog signals for emergency purposes for example for the Police radios, some areas have crappy or no coverage because the signals get mixed up or blocked by other analog signals. That’s the real purpose, not because HDTVs can’t do it.

    It really depends …
It really depends on the area. Some areas are still broadcasting their digital stations in low power mode. When they finish the shutdown of the analog they will switch over to high powered signals since the won’t be running 2 transmitters.

Very Funny Wise Guys……You’d be surprised how many people over the age of 80 are very capable of working with this equipment……(although I gotta say, the Jack Benny line was quite funny!) Most of the seniors I know can afford the High Def TV so they don’t need to do anything. How about you youngsters? How many of you are in the dark right now? I thought so! Just wait till you get older. It’s comin’ sooner than you think!
