Saw this on WETA last night. Very interesting and informative! Thanks for sharing! ~LT
Thank you PBS for …
Thank you PBS for posting this up, although my household subscribed to DirecTV a few years ago! I’m happy that all my TV sets (save for an analog one in the den, in which I allotted solely for the Nintendo Wii) are ready for February 17 of this year and I will experience no interruptions because all of them (even my grandmother’s) are hooked up to the smart boxes!
Again, thank you for the pointers on the upcoming transition! This video is profoundly comprehensive and straightforward!
Thank you so much. …
Thank you so much. My speakers suck!
A number of my …
A number of my friends say they don’t want to spend money on a new TV or even a converter box. They say they will wait until the economy improves… and just use their sets for DVDS. then when they can afford a new TV they will buy one. - I want to see the old bandwidth used for WIFI access for all.

Hi Aliendear, I …
Hi Aliendear, I also have the RCA DT800B1.
I hooked up my Converter box, then to my VCR recorder. I can watch tv thru using the new converter box, picture is beautiful. But when I try to time record my VCR and play it back the picture is un-watchable. Do you have any sugestions? or do you know of a website that I can go to and get some help with this problem? I would appreciate any help. Thanks, K
I have an RCA …
I have an RCA DTA800B1, and the picture is superior to not only to analog, but Cable in my opinion. No shadows or intermodulating crossover signals due to miles of wire.
The new tv picture is refreshing, with new life to every detail on the screen.
I have a DTV …
I have a DTV converter box, and the picture is superior to analog. Razer sharp, and every dtv channel comes in great. I just love it. I feel like I’m in the future.
Same thing with …
Same thing with cell phones…cell phone signals are in digital now, and this is why you occasionally have “dropped” calls. 20-30 years ago, those “brick” phones use analog and instead of dropped calls, you would experience fuzziness or static.
Digital TV if fine …
Digital TV if fine in itself but when it is broadcasted though and received an antenna you get drop outs (like a skipping cd). That will be VERY annoying for most viewers. With analog transmition the picture just gets a little fuzzy but is still very watchable. Most poor people will probabaly not have tv because the signal will be too weak in some areas and there will be lots of signal dropouts even with a good anttena with amplifier boosters. I have already witnessed this. No more TV for me.

what happens if I dont have enough money? will I be bored to death in 2009?
This has nothing to …
This has nothing to do with PBS. PBS did not mandate the DTV switch.
Recent tests …
Recent tests indicate that a large percentage of the population will not receive any usable digital tv signals. It’s a shame that the FCC and PBS is asking us to spend hundreds of dollars on converters and antennas that they know might be useless.
well then you do …
well then you do something about it. the rest of us will be enjoying our digital tv. ever think that homeless ppl choose to live that way and that they just don’t care.
its not like those ppl would amount to anything and be mentally fit to contribute to society.
this is bs and you …
this is bs and you know why, we care more about dtv than we do about public education, deficit, homelessness, poverty, hunger, aids…the list goes on. It is sad how the government puts its priorities first. Brainwashing since 1940.
This is the best …
This is the best Video explaining the steps to transition from Analog to Digital. It shows you all the hands on training to set up your TV to get digital signal. The other videos of Digital transition on youtube are OK but they are very short and doesn’t show you the hands on details like this video.
