    Later, Congress …
Later, Congress mandated that February 17, 2009 would be the last day for full-power television stations to broadcast in analog. Broadcast stations in all U.S. markets are currently broadcasting in both analog and digital. After February 17, 2009 extend to march 2009, full-power television stations will broadcast in digital ONLY.

    The SWITCH from …
The SWITCH from analog to digital broadcast television is referred to as the digital TV (DTV) transition. In 1996, the U.S. Congress authorized the distribution of an additional broadcast channel to each broadcast TV station so that they could start a digital broadcast channel while simultaneously continuing their analog broadcast channel.

    Yes!DTV will end …
Yes!DTV will end free TV.Currently some customer with DTV customer does not receive signal by air wave.Making them have to pay for cable TV.Digital signal is weaker than analog signal.Analog signal is able to bounce of build and objective and still maintain signal with the TV,a digital signal will not. I have study this topic and many other radio wave in tech school.Once DTV is fully in effect. The transmitter signal can weaken below 20db signal(manually).A weak signal will provide NO SERVICE.

    And what excuse …
And what excuse will they come up with June 12 for delaying this *yet again*? Stay “tuned” - they’ll think of something.

Of course, it would’ve helped if a lot of the people who didn’t need those vouchers in the first place would have left them for the people who *do* need them.

This has gotten beyond silly. And now we’ll have to put up with that scrolling reminder *at least* 4 1/2 more months.

    oh, relax. another …
oh, relax. another few months will give the poor people who can’t afford the converter box time to get one. (and time for congress to fund more $40. coupons toward their purchase)
TV should be free- the government makes a fortune auctioning off the airwaves- that’s OUR air- TV is a democratic medium- it should be available to everyone- not just those who can afford to keep up with the HD Joneses.

I thought several agencies were ready to use the newly available bandwidths because the main reason for going digital was to free up more frequencies for cellphone and emergency service transmissions.
